This is a great feature to make sure that you have production-ready drawings.Īnil also looked at how to add or modify layers with the Layer Manager. To use Auto Dimension, simply create a bounding box around the geometry and select the entities that you would like to be a part of the auto dimensions. Along with regular dimension commands, you can make use of Smart Dimension capabilities to apply a dimension to an entity. Read more PowerTrim and why Lynn Allen calls it the super-hero of all commands.Īnother fan favorite that Anil shared is Smart Dimensions. The same command can be used to extend an entity with the shift key. The session also previewed some of the incredible time-saving tools that are found only in DraftSight.Īnil demonstrated how the PowerTrim command easily allows us to trim an entity by just dragging the mouse cursor onto the entity. Your familiar keyboard shortcuts and aliases work the same way. To really make things easy, DraftSight has the same tools and commands as comparable CAD applications. You can just install the application and start using it to create drawings. Anil shared that DraftSight makes it easy to get started with a minimal learning curve. One of the questions we get asked all the time is how easy it is to transition. Anil also showed the dark mode user interface that was added in DraftSight 2022. The session showed how to hide the ribbon and make more workspace, customizing your ribbon, and easily switching to the classic work environment. You can also find a complete list of commands and their aliases by going to Help ⇢ Help. In each section of this guide, common commands are listed with their aliases. This means that instead of writing fillet into the command window, you only need to enter: For example, f is the the alias of the fillet command. Most commands have shortcuts called aliases. At this point we would enter 1, changing the radius:Īs you can see, we have exited out of the radius option and are now back at the beginning of the fillet command. Now the prompt has changed, informing us of the default radius and asking us to specify a new radius. For example, if we wanted to change the radius from 2.0000 to 1.0, we would enter r into the command window. The shortcut for each option is the underlined portion of the option. Note that even though the prompt is asking us to specify an entity, we can enter options if they are available. On the second line, we see the current settings and, on the next line, the options.
